Ian Sharp – Franchise Development Director, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan & Manitoba
Ian has an extensive background in franchise development and commercial real estate. Prior to joining Choice Hotels Canada, Ian worked as a Franchise Consultant to companies including Scholars Canada and Floor Coverings International. In previous roles, Ian was President of Nutrilawn Canada, Vice-President of the Afton Food Group, and from 1978-2000 a shareholder and Vice-President of the Robin’s Donuts Company, where he led its growth to over 300 units across Canada. Ian is very active in his community, having served in volunteer capacities with organizations including the United Way and Thunder Bay Regional Hospital. Paul Rice – Franchise Development Director, Ontario
Since earning his MBA from Cornell University, where he majored in Hotel Administration and Corporate Finance, Paul has devoted his career to the hospitality industry. He spent 16 years as a real estate agent specializing in the sale of hotel properties and has been a hands-on owner and manager too. This combination of education and experience means Paul brings a wealth of knowledge and a unique perspective to evaluating hotel investment opportunities. Marc St-Gelais – Franchise Development Director, Quebec & Atlantic Canada
Hotel industry veteran Marc St-Gelais has been with Choice Hotels Canada since January 1998. He has been in the hotel business all his life, following a family tradition. Marc’s background as an owner of both independent and franchised hotels coupled with his experience working in operations for major hotel chains give him unique perspective that he is pleased to share with potential Choice Hotels Canada franchisees. Mr. St-Gelais is the former president of the A.H.R.Q. (L’Association Hoteliere de la Region de Quebec). He has also served on the board of directors of several organizations, including the Tourism Office of the Region of Quebec.
